Does anyone have a spreadsheet for the various tones of black for ALL the A12 cars parts?
Such as;
1. H Wheels 2. Dana 60 housing 3. Bumper brackets 4. Crossmember 5. K-member 6. Suspension pieces 7. and others....
Trying to figure out what I can get done in bulk at the same time.
Thanks,
Ed B

I have an original Roger Gibson article about suspension resto's, called Panning for Gold. He mentions DAR-9000 PPG and DP-90 frequently.
1) Dana was a Semi gloss black, Gibson used DP-90 PPG as a close match.
2) Backing plates were black phosphate coated.
3) Bumper brackets were dipped in gloss black I think, or around 90% gloss. Torsion bars were dipped also.
4)The K-Member was around 90% gloss. as well as the trans cross member and inner fender aprons and bumper splash shield.
5)Wheels, I would say are about 90% gloss as well.
6)Motor mounts, alternator brackets, engine pulleys, jack handle, jack tie town bracket, fender support brackets, heater box cover, I'd say are also consider 90% black.
7) Spring perches and shackles were natural.
8) tie rod sleeves are black phosphate, UCA's and LCA's were all natural on my A12 RR, as well as the leaf springs, spindles, struts, and sway bar. Some of these things had a bluish black hugh from the heat treat process.
On my RR, I had the splash shields, bumper filler panel and a few other misc. small items done in gloss black, and were too glossy.
I found another powder coater that could better match the gloss based on the heater core cover and bumper brackets.

6. Suspension pieces 7. and others....
Big pieces like wheels, K-Frames, and axle housings were spray painted.
Generally front and rear spring hangers, spring U-bolts/nuts, and spring plates w shock studs were bare metal.
Smaller black painted pieces were paint dipped, such as torsion bars, anti sway bars, brackets, etc.
For a good discussion with photos on dip painting, go to a book seller site like Amazon, and search for 'How to Restore Your Muscle Car' by Donahue. Within that book, search for 'dip painting', and read the 3-4 pages.
For dip painting the torsion bars the Roger Gibson way, go here for discussion and photos: http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techa...ng/viewall.html
