If you had two new cams to choose from and a $500 engine simulation program showed both cams making virtually the same horses but one having more torque, would you let the computer make your cam choice for you? Your gut instinct before running the simulation was that the cam the program said made less torque would actually make more horses, but that's not what the simulation indicated.

Who makes the cam choice?
single choice

That's pretty much what the cam grinders do when you call and ask them their input /suggestion.

No way IN H E L L !!! They can remember all the cam specs for all the combos out there.

Those programs run off of data that has been collected over 40-50-60yrs of R&D and real world experience.

At the end of the day if MY Program told me 2 cams and I was still at odds with it's suggestion I would call some one that does Cams for Known winners and ask their input.

Always go for the torque, torque moves the world, HP determines how fast it spins

If you have a $500 program it will want tons of info
and in most cases it would be better than a guy on
the phone that asks maybe 10 questions... and like
Cab said... go for the torque... if you analyze the
amount of time thats spent at each part of the track
you will see its near the starting line... so thats
the area that the torque is working
