454” Godzilla Small Block makes 778 hp

Thought I’d post the results of a project I’ve been working on for some time now. The following are some of the pieces and results

X block w/ tall fill bored to 4.125. Filled and offset bored .050 to help to compensate for the core shift . That much off set made fitting things properly a real pain but so far so good.
BPE & Rod Bloomer supplied the rotating assembly w/ a 4.250 crank w/ Comp Star 6.200 Chevy rods. The pistons are from Ractec. Thanks Rod Very nice stuff!
The Indy 360-1 heads, intake and cam were supplied by Brian at IMM.
The comp roller is mild w/ about 270* dur and lift is less than .700
Thanks Brian things worked very well together!
Machine work other than the heads & intake and Dyno was performed by Sunset Racecraft. Nice work guys, for the a$$ hauler in all of us. For sure!
The pan is from Kevco and is a good pan but seemed to hit on everything!
My local chassis friend Mike Carpenter helped to remake my hooker headers fit my junk Thanks
In two weeks time this motor went from a short block to dyno to car to Las Vegas SCSN
On Sunset Racecraft’s dyno it made 778HP @ 6500 and 659 ft lbs torque @5900
This was with my home boy tweeked 1050 holley and C-25
I installed the motor, loaded up and drug my junk to Vegas.
I changed to methanol and my SV-1 and went 9.22 @ 142 in about 3200’ DA
I got lucky enough to make it to the pay window twice. I certainly had a hell of a good time! If my dang driver would do his job better I might have done more. This was with a convertor that was slipping over 12%. I really thought I was getting WAAY to old for thrashes like this and was convinced I had gone crazy.
I’m pulling things apart including the rear end as I believe my 8 ¾ housing was twisting a bit even though its back braced and MW capped. It kept loosing its preload.
I don’t get to race but a few times a year but the mad thrash was worth it

.....and I thought you looked whupped due to the Vegas nightlife! Car was leaving very nice and running hard. Tried to catch you at your pit area, but you were always away so my "poking" around your car was limited. Nice to meet you David.

Man you sure have expensive tastes in race fuels Those guys at Sunset know their stuff for sure.

Wish we could have spent more time BSing. We tried to find you a few times but no luck, and I skipped the Turkey race due to company being here last minute. Good running car for sure. But that SB is almost as big as my BB

Great power especially at such a low rpm!
How do you like that SV-1?

I sure like my SV-1. I won't stand on a soap box and say its better than others. Brian I may be in touch about a slightly larger cam.

I have one of those 4.125x4.25" small blocks too. Mine won't make anywhere near that power though. Glad to see yours runs hard, gives me hope

I was pouting and watching you race from the desk at home. That car straight gets after it. I'd love to see what it would do here on a day below sea level! Easy 8's!
