I bought a lokar cable years ago. I went for the bling. It consisted of brackets and stops. But the worst was the housing. It was just a teflon braided line. Well guess what the cable cut into the teflon and the throttle hung. I use motorcycle or bicycle cable housing now. And buy the inner cable at lowes. Been working for years.

Being that I worked in the Fuel and exhaust lab I made my own cables for my set up... the first week or so when I built my car I used the old throttle cable (/6) and of course it broke launching off the line... so I made a new one and made a back up... and based on Murphy's law... since I have 2 it will never break.... and it hasnt since... lol

A morse cable will push as well as pull, stock type cables will not. The choice between a morse cable and a solid linkage will depend on the application and preference. A cable does allow more creativity. Anything beyond a stock OE/street type set-up, I personally would not use a stock style cable and I would have some kind of a toe hook on the pedal. I like the idea of being able to pull the throttle shut with my foot.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I always had faster reaction times with a rod, I guess because of more friction with a cable with bends.
I used to have that problem - - - - when I was 20!! [/quote

My DartSport had a solid rod, once setup it was easy to use and no maintenance.
My 69 Dart had a cable and boy did I have headaches with it. I bought a good stainless bicycle cable and redrilled the gas pedal so the cable was aimed perfectly straight into the cable tube. The main thing is that the cable can not have any extra tension on it after the carb has reached full throttle! If there is even a tiny amount of play left in the gas pedal after full throttle you will break the cable. I broke 3 before I got it all figured out.

These people will make you any kind of cable you need. Most of the racers in the Portland (Oregon) area, including myself, buy throttle cables from them. http://www.instrumentsales.com/(503) 239-0754 (800) 333-7976 The last one I bought was last year. It's about 18" long, bullet proof and only cost about 40 bucks, built to my specs.

All cars that leave my shop to be raced have a solid rod and a toe clip for safety.
