Got Daryl's W2 408 on the dyno today. We first ran an M1 intake that I ported and then ran his old Victor that I had ported. Tried a 950HP and a true 950. Best power was with the Victor, 1" open spacer and true 950 carb. 10.4:1 compression, street solid roller cam and TTI 1 7/8 headers. Link to one of many dyno pulls: http://youtu.be/WI1VQyyarwY

Honestly that engine is not too far off mine with the exception being your camshaft and rockers, I have Sharps and split 1.6 intake, 1.5 exhaust because thats what I had laying around.
Im also running Indybrocks.
Im no where near that HP number, like a good 90 HP off, but man there is great potential in these engines.
Nice Work Brian!!!
Kasey, are you running a solid roller or hydraulic roller?

Brian what are your thoughts regards a wide( 112) cam on a low compression motor? I suspect it helps a little with idle, driveability somewhat etc, but my experience is wide lsa n/a with low compression is that it adversely effects acceleration compared to something tighter, like a 108, particularly in the 60 foot. Just a lot doggier out of the gate in my experiences... Nice motor....

I like tight lca's most times but everything is a compromise! A smaller cam on a tighter lca would make more lower rpm power I'm sure, but for street cars traction is limited on the STREET so actually a good race HP and TQ curve work well. At the track, sure more poop on the line would be nice, but I'll bet the engine spends most of it's time in the 5000-7000rpm range and with a 4" crank even if the 60ft. is a little soft it'll e.t. better this way than the other.

Most dyno videos are boring but I really enjoyed this one, engine sounds great! That will be a blast in a fairly light weight car.

Thanks Pro...Matt I would guess around 25-30HP maybe...as smooth as these lobes are, not sure it would be a huge amount. Remember, the heads were only mildly ported so there's some power left on the table there.

Cool, I was just wondering if the solid roller helped make substantially more power if it was to be up against a similar flat tappet. Motor sounds BAD when it is revving
