Stock rear suspension limits your choices as well as back spacing. I ran a dart and I think 28x10 was as big as I could fit and that is not slicks. I think they were only 9: because of the sidewall.

I've always been a fan of the 205/70/14. 205/75's look a little too tall to me but the 205/70 looks deceptively wide because of the lower aspect ratio.
It also helps that they're mere millimeters away from old school E70-14. Maybe that's why I like 'em. I had 205/75/14 on my old '71 Swinger - they looked great, but the rears rubbed the inner fenders on big bumps or when I had a lot of people in the car. Might have been the offset of the slot mags causing that, but that was too many years ago now.

Here's a good shot of the tires on my V8 Hornet. These are 205/70/14. I've had multiple people ask me how I fit such a wide tire on and they've all been surprised to see it's only a 205.
