My guess is the fuel filler is behind the driver side door, below the door handle. The filler tube passes through the cab behind the seat, and exits through the floor to the tank below. Dodge put a lot of fuel tanks under the driver side floor, inside the frame. Unfortunately, it is also below the front of the box. When the wood box floor rotted away, the rain water sat on top of the tank and made a big rust hole in the top of the tank. Lots of tanks were pulled out to get fixed or replaced that never happened. If the tank got pulled, likely the filler tube is gone as well, but the 3" diameter hole in the cab corner and the hole through the cab floor should still be visible. Gene

Oh
The grill looks like a 36 BUT the headlights on a 36 coupe are on the fenders.
Is the truck lights different, should they be on the grill or on the fenders???

No, 36-38 pickup headlights were all mounted on the grill shell. This is certainly a 36 design as Ron noted. 37's have horizontal bars in the side grill pieces and a completely different dash. However, keep in mind that as inventory was carried over at the end of the year, it was very common to see 36's sold as 37's and 37's sold as 38's. The gas filler neck is in the cab corner just behind the driver's door.

Here’s what the 37 Dodge grill looks like.

And the glove box door, gauge cluster and panel behind the steering wheel are rectangular.

from the 20,s chrysler had a habit of introducing models instead of a specific model-year---a model may last 18 months and not be related to the begining of a year or the end---for that reason grill shells/headlights/suicide hinges are all over the place----yeah yeah i know a sales brochure may show something new in the 1928 series but it may have been in production since last june---it always will cause consternation among those that feel it must show some order....bob

thanks i am seeing differences now.
where should the fuel filler be?

I'm pretty sure I told you on HAMB that it's a 36. I bet the firewall is flat without the 37-38 notch. And the cab doesn't have filler behind driver's door. The fuel tank filler is in the cab floor . Trust me, I have 1935 Dodge,1936 Dodge,1937 Plymouth PT50 and 1938 Dodge.

BTW, if you decide to get rid of the grille or trade for 37 grille,I might be interested

I'm having the bars on my grille remade. They will be laser cut. I was going to run a few more. That would get you 75% their. The outer and center are pretty easy to find.

The grille itself, the center support (has the crank hole, holds the emblem and hood ornament) and the surround trim. That's it. You have the shell.
