Dug the old, old, old reliable 360 out of the weeds. We were going to ring it and fly, but found a crack in the crank so now it has a new forged crankshaft. Freshened and broke in and ready to install. IIRC it ended up at 470hp and 455lb ft torque. That'll keep us running until the next venture in stupidity takes form.

I agree it would be great to see the event start to grow again instead of contract as it ihas been. It is all we have out here for a large Mopar event with racing, show and swap. The direction it has been going the last few years is not a good sign. Let's all hope the trend is the other direction from here on out. But I fear it will be the excuse game yet again, as this seems to be a west coast past time when it comes to drag racing. Always some reason to NOT go to a race, then whine when it no longer exists.

Not bashing Dom just making a point. If the current trend for this race continues it will not continue to exist. I understand everyone has things come up or finacial reasons, those are not the folks I am talking too. I am sure you understand that. There are those out there who do not have financial issues coming they done come because they dont like the parking situation, or the fact that other makes are there, or the sometimes less thanb orderly fashion they are parked, or they canot park with all their buddies, or the weather or any one of a number of excuses. Those are the folks I am talking to. I am fairly sure they know who they are. This is one of the biggest payouts we get here on the west coast, I just do not understan why it is not better supported by racers. Since this is the only event of it's kind out here I think we all need to do what we can to support it.
I try to support what I can, contrary to what many seem to think we are not rich just middle class folks like most. We have been a military family for well over 20 years. Anyone can look up what we made, or make. You aint gonna getting rich in a financial way doing that. But you do get to meet some preety awesome folks over the years so I guess in that since we are rich.

Well our gang has too much fun to look for reasons not to go. Getting parked is a pain and will be again this year, Might be chivies & Phords runnin with us,Might snow on us again,might put us all in one class. we have nothin on this end of the US to call ours so til it gets back to the show it started out as we'll deal with it. If you don't support it, It will go away. The only one I didn't attend was when my son Graduated Boot camp. Barring any major event me & my gang will be there again ready for fun. Should be at least 4 of us racing again this year.

Don't know whats not to like about the track itself. It's as good as the best I've seen. Unfortunately, the date interferes with my Firebird ET bracket schedule, but I'm going anyway! Anyone attending in need of a stock, uncut E58 360" crank in good condition, I will bring it along. Price will be right.

This will be our first year at the MATS since we just moved to Vegas in June. Our house is only 5 min from the track and we love racing there. See you all there, and look forward to meeting you all, look for the Red/White Dodge Daytona. We will be there no matter what.

I might be able to make it, was planning on going to for the divisional just come 1 week earlier. Car will probable be slow with the 2 speed. Won’t make the Q16.

We had a full field this year but it was a slow field seem to recall the bump was 9.35. I raced the twin to your car in round one Keith, the black Barracuda. IIRC he was dialed 9.33. I was #11 at .40. The year before we had a full field with a bump of 8.70 something, had 24 cars in 11 and I think 19 in 2012. Quick 16 is supposed to remain Mopar only from what I was told. Also hear the Vettel's are coming back to run Q16 as well. At least that was what they are planning after we spoke recently.
It does suck that once again they have it schedule on a wekend that others have team races. Especially in FIrebirds case as it is their last for the time being. I know a couple of years go they scheduled it same weekend as a divisonal race and if that were to happen I would miss the MATS for sure.

What is the bump in the Q16 at the MATS? EDIT: Ok see the bump now. my crap box I would bring this year wouldn't make it even if it was pushed off a cliff.

We have always made it in the show. The key is, at least in the past they have taken the 16 fastest cars. Last year was a good example. IMO if you can run ANYWHERE in the 8's you will likely be safe. Oh yeah, give me a light car and I would be very happy. Not slugo the fat Cuda like I have now. We have been discussing just running the Hot Street car in Q16 just for kicks instead

Well that there was pretty much what I was thinking the other day as I am sure the car with the new mill will be a very low 9 there and high 8 here at Sonoma so I may have a chance to be under the 9.25 deal but with the 8.53 deal there is no chance at coming close there and I don't want to look even more like a donkey and be way slow so I will just enter SP and be happy, now one thing that I would like to enter as well if allowed is the Mopar vs the World deal. if that can be done we are looking at a potential Gambler race on Friday, maybe some sort of bonus race on Saturday? and then the Super Pro & M vs W race Sunday so 4 chances at 1st round runner up! Anyone know if you can enter 2 classes like that on Sunday? That M vs W is a new one on me
The wife and I already have the time slated off work and just need to book a room so we are as good as there!
Been a few years and looking forward to it.

No not implying anything. Just wish my bucket o bolts did not weigh so much so I could run TS with it  Also so I was not on the slow side of the Q16 ladder too. Although it has worked out well the last few years for me I hear ya on the buyer part. Although mine was sold and the wife axed the deal, was told I cannot sell it. Keith, yes you can enter more than one class, or at least I now plenty of people who have anyway. S/Pro runner up last year ran in the Mopar V the world as well in his Camaro, yes GM and Ferds were allowed in Pro and S/Pro last year. Something about it not saying they could not was what I heard. Not sure why you guys are sweating the Q16 thing. I am not sure the BUMP has ever been 8.53 for the race. Even if you dont make it you get refunded the money, plus you get good times for qualifying. Not like being a super street racer and being treated like the red headed step child and running at 8 am.. Heads up car on the stop...Yeah we are really thinking the national event in S/C will be a good place to test it. Just making 1/8 mile hits and killing it. We are under the 9.05 index doing that will have to come up with a strategy maybe

I know they have a cap on it to keep every tom , dick & harry signing up that are not even close to being a Q16 car but when I was last there there were a total of 13 cars in the show and yes they had a 9.25 cap on, had they not I would of gladly ponied up my $250 to run as I was running mid 9.30's at the time, I for one would love to be on the slow side of the ladder for a shot at one of those triple shot NOS or turbo'ed cars that are lucky if they can cut a light or even come close to there dial. Sorry but 1/2 of the top part of the field usually have no idea how to bracket race because that is not there usual gig!
Having only 13 cars in that field is ridiculous! Hopefully they can get a full field of sub 9 second cars and I will be on the fence watching, Super pro, Mopars vs the World and any other bonus race they throw at us is just a BONUS to help make this a profitable weekend, one thing I do know is it will be fun regardless, see you all in the lanes. I know there should be quite a few more than normal making the venture down this year due to the new dates.

Well Al, I  may have to ship you those cigars for your SST victories. Looks like I am torn between two lovers. Two favorite Hemi Shootouts are Belle Rose and Vegas which are now on the same weekend for 2013. Last year thanks to all involved we had about 15 cars at each race because the schedule worked. This ain't good for car counts. Maybe my car will roll off the PHISHCAL CLIFF and I won't have to decide.

Stephen, That sure sucks. But with a race in your backyeard that makes sense. I imagine that will hurt both feilds for sure One of my favortie parts of this race is the AH Hemi guys. We seem to end up hanging around you guys most the weekend. You hemi guys sure have some good stories. We have had dinner at Ogburns trailer a time or two and always enjoyed bs'ing with you guys. It is unfortunate they have that issue. Was looking forward to you letting me drive that blue car Oh yeah last years cigars were awesome, was looking forward to sharing some Scotch with you this year while we killed a few
