Hi

I heard people were complaining about the reproduction distribution blocks or proportioning valves for the brake system.

I happen to have one of these:

http://www.megapartsusa.com/proddetail.asp?prod=129-RBV006

are these the ones that people have been having problems with?

Note that this is just the distribution block (as used on cars with drums on all 4 corners) without the proportionng valve.

Is this the one thats defective??? or is it the proportioning valve that has problems????

Domingo I had some issues with the one with the proportioning valve on it. Sent my customer a replacement and it had the same issue so I ordered one from another supplier and that one worked fine.

If you have an issue with one of the valves you purchased from us let us know as we will take care of you no problem.

Yes it is the distribution block . . . got mine from Fine Lines, with all the brake and fuel lines I bought . . .

Converted from drum to disc, and got the prop valve, etc. . . course I installed all this when the engine and k member was out of the car. Making for easy access and no issues . . . well, once I got the master cylinder installed and went to bleed everything, the plug that is used on the front brakes (top of the distribution block) leaked like a sieve !!! Pretty sure it is the flare on the plug, not seating fully on the flare of the distribution block. Figured that one out, and then had NO fluid going to rear brake circuit . . . I could have taken it all apart and figured out what the deal was . . . but got a different distribution block and installed it - now no leaks and have fluid on all four corners.

Fine Lines said they would check out the distribution block and let me know if it was defective, and if so, then they would replace it. Too late now, I am not going to get back under the car, with the exhaust, torsion bar, etc, in the way, to replace the block when I have one in place that works . . .

Rant off . . . hope others have better luck . . .

Cheers

Mark

Are still using the supplier with the questionable parts?

I would like to get a good set without issues from the start.

Same issue I had Bill. Both of them were from In Line Tube and had INL stamped on the brass block.

Actually, I found a hold off valve on ebay from an AMC which is basically the same part, just has a mounting bracket swedged onto the body of the valve. I also found out that 70 GM vehicles with disc brakes also utilized the same hold off valve as it is on our 70 el camino. I figured I could rebuild an original one and then not have to worry about any issues with the repop.
