Definately need an aftermarket set. See what the guys in the race section are using. I got around an issue with my small block with those long individual ones you can buy and made a holder to loop around just behind the alternator for #2 & #4.

Thanks guys.
I don't know what I was thinking really....in my mind it wasn't going to be a hot rod/go fast truck so I was hoping stock stuff would work, but......anyways thanks for the feed back.

I am running MSD streetfire box and wires on my 83 D150 512. I bought the universal wires so I could cut each one individually to fit with my shorty headers.

Cool, I was wondering how that box is working out for people. I'm running the HEI(GM)in FBO's black box) Street fire module on mine right now. What coil are you running?

I'm not seeing that on there website, the coil I'm running is the mopar looking one. That looks like an e-coil style. I'm being thinking of running on of those.

I wonder how hard it would be to mount that on my six pack coil bracket that I'm using. Thanks for the close up.

Rick MAKES Firecore, or at least has them made.

R.

Since Prestolite now owns Accel, as well as jacobs and mallory, you can buy Accel wires with the ceramic boots that may be a help.

Throw some protective sleeves on those spark plugs and that should keep the wires away from the headers. S/F.....Ken M

I was reading up on that when I got these wires. I've read that some people are having good luck with that. Does anybody have a part number on those?

I was going to try and contact MSD to see what there tech's say.............but right know I'm knee deep on trying to finish my new 3000 sq. ft. shop out so that I can work out of it.

Trust me..........I would rather being playing....I'm still needing to finish working out the accelerator pump shot on the six pack in the Valiant out too.

Thanks for the replies guys.

With straight plug heads I had to put a good sized dent in #5 tube for the plug to clear properly and for there to be ANY clearance for the plug wire. I ended up using the boot insulators that slip over the wire and look like header wrap. It works for awhile but eventually it still burns up the wire end. Always #5. I think if I had angle plug heads it'd clear better but it looks like it'd make one of the other cylinders tighter.
This is what I'm using. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/the-14260

I had cardboard in front of the radiator this winter to keep the heater working better and it caused the plug wire to burn a lot faster. Since I took the cardboard out, no more problems. So far. May have to build my own headers eventually. Probably when I finish these Stage VI heads.

Hey I appreciate the feed back. I think that I'm going to try what you posted over the stuff MSD said and see if can't over kill it.

What do you guys think?

Anybody have the part number for the shorter plugs that work. I wish that I could find that again. Someone had posted that on another mopar site.

Just got done watching an old Popular Hot Rodding video on headers, find the link on the Race engine page, there was something like 600 degrees F difference between ceramic coated and black painted headers. Something to think about.....Oh, and shorty headers are inferior to long tubes over the entire rev range (except for one point where they matched).

R.

I had to run the "peanut" plugs on my 440 in the Ramcharger with headers.

Summit and Jegs sell them.

Do the 915's use a flat seat with the crush washer, or are they a taper seat?

If they are the flat seat they should work.

If they are a taper seat you could look at maybe the Chevy type peanut plug. I think they used a taper seat.
