I want to restore the grill in my 70 Cuda and I'm not sure what color is correct. The grill has been sprayed light argent by a prior owner.I was at the Don Garlets show and saw 4 70 Cudas, and each was a different color. They ranged from light argent with silver flake to dark argent with silver flake. What is correct? Mine is a Hamtramck built Nov. 69.Pictures would be great.
TIA

The body of the grille is medium textured argent, while the center section is satin black.

is your grille original paint as is sits now or has it been stripped/repainted/messed with before?
we spent a lot of time trying to come up with what is correct for a nov car from the hamtramck plant.
let me know the sbd of the car and if it has the original paint on the grille-show us a pic of the marker area where the two bolt holes are to hold the housing-see pic attached.
i believe the grille was cast in a light cream/off white plastic. then from the front-straight over the whole grille it was painted in medium/dark textured argent-a dark gray with heavy flake in it.

then the grille will have to be masked off across the top blade openings and marker areas from the front and also mask off around the two main front grille openings. walk to the back of the grille and spray the top back in flat/semi gloss black-it should naturally make the top horizontal blade areas black and shadow like when unmasked from the front. now walk back to the front of the grille and spray the black into the two main openings. because of the angle of things it`s hard to get paint in a lot of areas-the factory ones were the same-if the black doesn`t cover 100% then thats how it was from factory.
you will also need to get the redlines correct-they weren`t red!!!
first paint them hemi orange metallic and then mask off the very inner depressed area and then paint the whole thing black.then unmask to reveal the thine orangelines.
the pic i post with this is NOT for a nov hamtramck car-if however your maker openings look like the pic-let me know.
all the best
frank

The grill I have was purched from a friend.Allready striped and in very nice shape. The original was gone.Is the med-dark argent paint available? Also on the red bars, were the bars painted semi-gloss and then striped,or were the bars natural and striped?A picture of the paint color would realy be nice.I could make my own.
Thanks for the advice.
