Since Metro didn't come through with the convertible door panels I'm thinking of having Just Dashes reskin them. I've got the wood grain inserts. Will they fit OK with the recovered panels?

Metro has been trying to drum up interest in them before he will spring for the $$$ to tool them up. Only fair, I think. They have been asking prospective buyers how serious they are by having them write down their name, phone number and credit card informtion. Once he gets to some magic number (can't recall if it was 200 sets??)he would notify everyone on the list that he is prepared to move and are they still interested.
That's the last I recall.

I have also pressed them for Challenger door panels without woodgrain holes (seems odd that they put them in in the first place). I think there are a few colors that he has not run either (green, tan).

This was posted in the thread reguarding the convert rear panels.

Hello again,

I just received the official word, and we will not be able to produce the convertible panels at this time.

We just could not get enough orders at this time to cover the production and tooling costs.

We will keep this project on the back burner, and revisit it as soon as the market allows.

We gave it a good try guys.

I second this quote. It would be great if they came without the holes. Easy to put them in, hard to fill.

OK, back to my original question, will the woodgrain trim for the 'Cuda door panels fit in the reskinned Just Dashes panels, or does the added material make the channels too narrow?

I had some Challenger panels done many years ago.
They looked very nice, but not original.. you lose the sharp edge definition and the edge flange around the perimeter gets a thicker look.
The vinyl material gives it a very slight cushion to the touch too.
The panel gets a series of tiny holes drilled into it, then the vinyl sheet is attached by vacuuming on the backside of the panel. It comes out wrinkle free.

As for the woodgrain strips fitting, they might.
You could simulate the thickness of the skin with a piece of vinyl and see if there's enough taper to the groove to fit the strip. It would sit up higher in the groove, but it should still fit to the bottom of the new vinyl skin.
I know that doesn't answer your question, but it's some more insight...

How thick is the vinyl they cover them with? What would be a good test piece to use to see if they'll fit? Is it close to the seat covering material?

It was a little thinner than the seat material.
If it fits with that you should be good...

I may need to pull the two sets of spare Challenger vert panels out of the attic & see how they clean up...

How about paint them? Is there any good products out there to do that?
