A few years back someone posted some pics of a convertible challenger with Reproduction Rubber Bumpers. Who made those and are they still available? OR Are they available in Fiberglass maybe?
Thanks

Gene Gregory makes them... But that car is my buddies & the front is a factory Elastomeric Bumper... The rear is a Gene Gregory but in order to have it fit as well as it does it had to have both ends cut off, 3/8" removed at each end, welded back together & the coating repaired... None of which was done by or paid for by Gene Gregory...

Thanks Randy
I don't think I want to tackel cutting and rewelding to fit. BUT it surely does make for a clean look. Do you know if anyone offers a Fiberglass replacement or is there another option? Just thinking out loud about the rubber (elastometric) bumpers for my car.
Thanks again for your help. You are always a wealth of knowledge.

My usual route for 'econo-elastomerics' on a Challenger is to strip a set of chrome bumpers, weld in studs where the bumper bolts go (you can just grind the head off a bumper bolt and MIG to your heart's content), then finish & paint the bumper in the usual way.

While not as thick as the regular elastomerics, if you put the blackout in the right places it will look pretty authentic.

And not nearly as cheesy as just painting over the bumper, bolts, bumperettes and all....

Econo-elastomerics

YYZ:

That looks stinkin' awesome!

As a matter of fact, I like your idea better than the factory's "fat" look.

To the OP: AAR Fiberglass makes a few bumpers for E-bodies. A similar subject came up on here quite a while back and I asked in the thread if anyone was running their bumpers and there were no replies.

i think if you want to take it even a step further,
you can get the desired thickness on the bumper by skim coating the surface of the bumper with this product
before priming/painting..
i saw a 71 runner bumper done with it that came out really nice...
