Some of the infinity systems in the vans had the amps on the speakers.
I have the Infinity AM/FM CD cassette in my 93 truck. The front speakers don't work. Half the buttons don't work. Wish I could find a replacement!
Sounds like the radio is no good. You can get them on ebay if you cant get one form a junk yard. Thats where I got mine.

On the van, 99% sure the amps will be on the speakers. If you pull a speaker and look, it's a small one in a "C" shape that wraps around the speaker magnet. Fun systems to work on since you have to either replace or rewire the speakers when replacing the deck (which goes bad waaaay too often).

FWIW, my '95 Dak has Infinity system with the amps on each speaker...
My '01 300M has Infinity system with a single amp in the passenger side truck along the quarter.

if you replace an infinity system with an aftermarket unit you can power the speaker amps by wiring them to the power antenna wire on the new unit.

Only problem with doing that is it shuts off the amp when you try to use the CD player, use the amp wire on the deck if it has one or wire it to the keyed hot wire for the radio.
Yep. My wife's 95 LeBaron has a single amp, as did the 94 we parted. Both our 89 LeBarons have individual amps on the speakers. It appears that the speakers are the same, though (We swapped tops between two of the cars today).

can anyone tell me, or does anyone have a pic of the "booster/transformer" used to power the speakers? i'm pulling the cd player from my 95 caravan to put in a hotrod. also, where is this item usually located ? new speakers are in the mix too, so what would you recommend ? thanx in advance !
Like all the other posters have mentioned, the speakers have the amps wrapped around the magnets in my 98 Caravan. The blue wire listed as power antenna supplies the 12 V to the speaker amps. The Infiniti option was very popular so replacements can be found in a lot of wrecking yards. I put an aftermarket Pioneer SuperTuner CD player in place of the stock tuner and it sounded great with the speakers in the van. Craig

thanks for all that have replied so far ! one other question if i may. the infinity i am pulling out is a cd/am/fm with equlizer. it is in a 95 caravan and works great ! at one time, i had to replace the heater core [a "fun" type job....].when i was done, the radio didn't have the base response it had before, and something else didn't work, but i forget what it was. i found a 20a fuse had blown. i replaced it, and all was good again. what part of the system requires 20a and is part of another circuit ?
Sounds like the power for the amplified speakers. When I put the Pioneer in, it sounded okay but just did not have the punch of the Infinity. I had not hooked up the blue wire from the adaptor wiring harness. I did not think it was needed since I did not have a power antenna. A customer service call revealed that the blue wire was needed for power. The sound was fantastic again. Craig

My infinity system sent only certain freq to each speaker. The speakers had 4 wires. two for the bass and two for high. Also had one in a intrepid that sent two wires to the lower door speaker and two to the upper small speaker. Now my Durango has the same type thing. What I am getting at is normal speakers sounded terrible when I tried to change them. So be careful trying this.
