I was told that the 15335 that Lakewood has sold towards the end of their production (before the switch to the Quicktime) doesn't fit very well, and that it'd be better to find an old 15330. Any experience here? Opinions?

I don't think there is very much difference between the two since they both can use the 143/172 tooth flywheel or the 130 tooth flywheel. I think the older Lakewood big block bellhousing that fit the 130 tooth flywheel only has potential to fit better than these other two. With that said, I've used the 15330 in an A-body and it only needed slight hammering of the firewall/floorpan seam and a minor dent in the lower firewall to clear the bellhousing bellcrank bracket.

Apparently the 335 is different externally, and doesn't fit as well. This is from a reputable source. There are still a few lakewoods available in inventory at some places, the 335s, and I'm trying to decide whether or not to pick one up.

I just brought a 15330 and it came with 2 rings, 1 marked TKO and 1 marked A-833 I thought they were adapter rings but they both have the same inside diameter as the hole in the bellhousing. Do they space the transmission out from the bellhousing? There is no way they could space a 4.3 bearing to a 4.8 bearing as the inside diameter is the 4.8 on both. Confused

IMO the 15335 looks like it is a modified version of the 15330 but with a bigger bearing retainer hole (5.6") so that a wide variety of transmissions will fit and the additional plate welded to the left rear of the transmission mounting surface, again, to fit a wide variety of transmissions.

I have used both on my car. The 335 is for truck applications with either the NV4500 or NP 435 tranny. comes withe the large 5.125 hole for OD 833s also. Will work with all other 833s with the correct adapter ring.

This is what I've heard. Does the 335 work good in your car? What is the car? Does it come with the required adapter ring?
