I'm afraid I already know the answer to my question.

I need to replace the cracked tail light lenses on my 71 Challenger with some NOS ones I've had for years.

Do I need to remove the rear bumper to remove/replace the lenses?

Thanks.

Should be able to get them out without taking the bumper off "?"

You should be able to squeak them out - IIRC there is enough gap between the top of the bumper and the tailpanel that you can carefully remove the outer diecast bezel.

Once that's off, replacing the lenses is a snap - you don't even need to take the taillight housings out

I had to take loosen my bumper. I just put new gaskets in mine and the tail panel goes under the bumper a little. Get new gaskets if you haven;t already.

If I do have to loosen the bumper where is the best place to loosen them....where the bumper bolts to the brackets or where the brackets bolt to the car?

Where the brackets bolt to the car...
