With MP chromed rocker shafts..and Crane rockers..on Edelbrock RPM heads..what should I torque the shaft attaching bolts(and 2 nuts)to? I've been going to my MP engine manual, and torquing them to 25 ft. lbs. Should I continue with that spec? Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Randy B.

BB I'm assuming? A 3/8 grade 8 bolt can take 35 lbs/ft. If it's just a standard grade 5 then 25 is enough.

I use 23 ft. lbs One motor has Harland Sharps with 680 lbs open pressure and the other Indy SR heads has single shaft T&D with 750 lbs + open pressures, no problems with those torque down at 23 ft. lbs. I do use a inch lb torque wrench on them, not a Ft. Lb wrench I do warm the motor and retorque them at least once before getting after the motor on the street, dyno or at the track

Randy, I have oblonged several sets of good Mopar and hard chromed Speed Pro rocker shafts torqueing them at 35 lbs The new harden steel half round holddowns instead of the stock stamp steel hold downs may help not crushing the ends of the rocker shafts but I don't chance it after ruining several shafts

Cab..good reason to use a lower torque value! I just realized that my NEW torque wrench maxes out at 250 in. lbs. I visually inspected the shafts a short while ago..and they look fine. I'll just tighten them..in 2 increments, starting in the middle..then both ends..then the 2 nuts. This time,I think I'll use the in. lb. torque wrench..torque to 180 in. lbs. and torque to 25 ft. lbs. with my other torque wrench. Thanks for the info!

Mike..that's an old pic..with the OEM pushrods. I don't use that Red Line assembly lube any more. I've been using the ARP moly lube. Thanks for the tip!..I will check that with the new Trends installed!
