I was always having problems with painting bolts and when I went to install them they would look terrible. Well I got a tip from the painted bolt thread earlier to get a toaster oven and heat them up. Well I tried it tonight with a thrift store unit and it worked awesome. Within ten minutes they were dry and had a durable finish. Thanks for the awesome tip Now I just gotta find a set of strut rod bolts for the lower control arm as they seemed to grown legs and dissapeared.

Baking any painted part really increases it's durability and resistance to fisheye too.
Fish eys happen during painting due to contamination on the surface. How does baking eliminate that from happening?

We were painting a fan with cruddy Krylon spray paint. We sprayed the bead blasted part with laquer thinner, it quickly dried and then it was painted. Had fish eye type areas.
If it were better paint, it would not have been an issue. The more expensive hard to find Industrial Krylon doesn't seem to have those issues.
I cleaned the paint off. Put the fan in my oven. Painted with cheap Krylon. And no issues. And I can run my fingernail across the paint without scratching it. Can't do that with non baked same paint. The heat just seems to promote adhesion. Doesn't run as easy too.

Even after blasting if you preheat the parts it burns the contaminates out of the pores.

That makes since.
So should you heat the parts for a while to get the contaminates all out? Last time I just put them in long enough to get the part hot; Like 5 minutes.
Just seem the cheap Kylon type paints do not go on very good anymore. Very fustrating.
