How did the Hemi, Six Pack and Max Wedge cars do. Saw some pictures and looked like Hoover Max Wedge was there. They said Mahoney's black a Hemi RR was running consistent 11.50's. Probably on a throttle stop. Lol. Let the less fortunate know how it turned out and post your pictures. Thanks

Must be dark blue, thanks for the correction Scott. I am really anxious to hear if the Max Wedge cars made any improvement.

Thanks for the info Dave. Unfortunately the only way to level the playing field with 50/50 weight distributed vette's is to add junk in the trunk. Of coarse there is 1/10 th second added to your 1/4 mile et for every 100 lbs you add, but 1/10th in 60' can be worth 2/10th in 1/4 mile et.

Kinda unfortunate that the Pure Stock Drags has turned into bracket racing. Just doesnt seem right..

for maybe 6 guys.......... the other 124 guys were trying to press the gas pedal through the floorboard and tear the shifter out between gears.........
11.50 is a NHRA rule, no one should be suprised or disappointed that the fun stops there.
Dave Dudek posted qualifying
Quick 8 #1. Julie 11.52 (69 L88 Vette) #2. Jim Jarret 11.69 (69 ZL1) #3. Copo 11.70 (69 ZL1) #4. Hoover 11.70 (64 Maxie) #5. Jim Keys 11.77 (Hemi R/T) #6. Ed Keim 11.80 (L88 Vette) #7. Mahoney 11.82 (Hemi Road Runner) #8. Larry Kirkman 11.92 (69 L88 Vette) #9.Bob K 11.94 (Hemi Cuda) #10.Paul Petco 11.99 (6pak Challenger)
I agree, Donny..
Its just that just like any other venue the attention usually focuses on the "big dogs". And with all of the heavies clearly capable of running under 11.50..well...

Mike,
Some of the most popular cars there were the 61 Catalina, the Bonnie 2+2, the 7 Liter Galaxie XL, the Satelite Sebring, and some other cars that were 14 and 13 second runners.
Heck, my buddies Impala SS wasn't there this year and I had folks dropping by the pits to tell me what a shame it was that he could not make it.
I fear the fact that the focus on the 'fastest cars' over the years has kept guys from bringing out some pretty cool stuff. the front of the field used to be filled with some amazing 15 second cars, and those are the cars I miss seeing.

I just enjoy seeing all the cool muscle cars whatever they run. They are all so nicely done that they look like they were just driven off the showroom floor. Ron
