I agree on AMK - I purchased their complete body kit (70 Ebody)to use as a reference when I got my 5 gallon bucket of bolts back from the plater. Took me about a week (only spending an hr or so a day) to sort all the bolts back. The kit was dead on (with the exception of the trans bolts) - so it made my sorting a lot easier.

Now I have 2 sets of bolts - original replated and the AMK. I'll definately not go the plating route again... Alot of work to sort all those bolts....

Unless I'm missing a listing AMK has no listing for body bolts.

Im mainly looking for valance, header, hood latch support, hood, trunk lid etc.

Complete and 100% correct are two different things.

I happen to witness some rear 70 Challenger valence hardware that did not 100% match originals. Close, but not 100%.

This is were taken detailed pictures before hand helps tremendously, so you are not stuck with a bucket of bolts trying to guess where they go back.

i highly doubt that you will ever
find anything near complete..
alot of the smaller kits offered out there
are not complete to begin with!

i would start makin a list of what you need
and start piecing it together.
i'm building a stripped out shell
and the main reason i bought a complete parts car
was for the nuts and bolts and trim...

Here’s more poop on identifying and reverse engineering lost body bolts to help when digging through a bolt bucket or buying the most correct available fasteners. If you have your body bolts but don't know what goes where, the AMK catalog photos and data for the part numbers called out here may help. The following is true for 69 A body and might be true for others.

Pretty much all body bolts were painted body color and have captive conical washers. You can usually tell what washer diameter the factory installed by inspecting the body part, as the washer leaves a mark. This will help narrow choices.

1. The 5/16-18 size was used for big or heavy pieces, the front fenders, hood, trunk, and battery tray. With a few exceptions mentioned below, all are 1” long with washer diameters 3/4 or 7/8. AMK part B-10790 on page 104 of their catalog is correct for the 3/4 washer applications, except the (unseen) point is not the correct paint cutter lead point. This point is correct for the hood hinges. AMK part B-11542 on page 105 is correct for 7/8 washers.

Part B-11931 on page 105 is not correct, but it is similar and the best choice for the trunk hinges. At least the washer diameter is the correct 1-1/8”, and the maker was a Chrysler vendor. This part is grade 5.1, while one correct version is grade 5, 1-1/4” long, and maker “GL”.

The battery tray used some AMK B-12113 on page 103, but also used some 1” long bolts mentioned above. This B-12113 was cadmium plated and used where battery acid was most likely.

2. The 1/4-20 size was used for lighter parts, like upper and lower grille panels and hood latch parts. All were 3/4, 7/8 or 1” long, and all have 3/4 washers. Use B-11894 or B-11598 on page 99 for 3/4 or 7/8 lengths. There is no 1” length in the AMK catalog.

3. Nuts for body bolts are a more complicated matter to copy exactly, but they are mostly hidden. For 1/4-20, use J nut B-11980 on page 57. For 5/16-18, use U nuts B-12005 or B-13531, both on page 59.

The bracket with the hood pop up spring that’s behind the hood latch support attaches to the radiator yoke with 1/4-20 Keps nuts, or nuts with captive washers. These were B-11481 on page 52.

The front fenders used hidden 5/16-18 Keps nuts just forward of the door hinge. These were B-13242 on page 53. These same Keps nuts were also used at the very bottoms of the fenders, along with double ended studs B-11007 on page 129, and along with thick or thin (0.19” or 0.07”) galvanized flat shim washers of 1-5/16 diameter.

4. There is one larger body bolt size, 3/8-16, used for door hinges. B-13183 on page 111 is correct for hinge to cowl. B13144 is correct for hinge to door. B-13237 on page 109 was used for some non-A body hoods. Large bodies may have used more 3/8 bolts listed on pages 109-113.
