The 440-1 325cc heads on a 572 short block....Just wandering what the performance capabilities are...

The son will be 16 before long and thought this might be a good mild combo for him..

Any thoughts?

Only reason i ask is that i have a new set of 440-1 325 cnc'd heads that i bought that i was gonna put on another motor but instead of that was just wandering what kind of performance will these heads do on a 4.500 bore 572..

It's gonna be in a dragster at 1955 lbs...

The same motor in the car now with the 572-13 heads goes 4.60s but i want to keep him in the 5.00 flat range..

If i can get by using this short block i will build me another one that would be more nitrous friendly...

Just figured if i was gonna have to build another short block i would rather use the money to build a bigger one than a smaller one..

You will have no problem running 5.00 with that combo at 1955#. My 572 daytona 4.500 stroke 4.500 bore ran 5.48 in the summer heat running a set of 440-1 heads that I ported at 2425#. My combo was found to have a bad brand new Barry Grant fuel pump, a cam that was really made for my B1 heads, and almost pump gas compression. Next time out it will have B1 heads on it.

Should be fine. I have a customer with a 550" and SRs ( PRH) that has run 5 teens in a dragster with what I'll call " not superior" tuning skills...lol

557 in a foot brake door car that runs 8.90-9.00 quarter at 3200# with OLD OLD -1's and old style chamber. 1050 DOM, single Indy intake. Bunch of cars that run low 9's on -1s, all 3000-3300#.

Havent run 345CNC in a dragster, but I think like John says, should be an easy goal for you. Good luck to junior..
