I'm on a mission to find a gas sipper. I know a 67 plymouth isnt what firat comes to mind when the phrase "gas sipper" is said...THAT being said, here is my next project

How she has been sitting for the last few years. She had been covered for MOST of those years, but stuff happens

What a beautiful rear end..MUCH more appealing than Kim Khardashian

Aired up the tires

Hooked the chain to it and the truck. I'm not straight because of how the rest of the yard is, and where its going

Got it drug out, and gave her a bath

After a bath:

Lights still work

The "Leaning tower of power" ....LITERALLY. 2 broken motor mounts

Only surface rust in the trunk

Interior is WAY worse than I remember it...Then again, the last time I looked at this car was maybe 2 years ago

Someone replaced the seats with blue seats at one point in her life. Here is the back seat

Thats it for now. I ran out of time to do anything else with her tonight. She is going to have to wait..

I accidentially broke the ignition back, and while trying to fiddle with her, to see if other things worked (blinkers, yes, heater fan, yes) I accidentially cranked her

I wanted to oil the cylinders first. MAYBE if I can tomorrow, I will head over there to oil the cylinders. We tilted the motor enough to access the distributor, so with a battery, and gas, she might run

What's the scoop on the 67 Belvedere sitting in the background?

plans are to get her running, to see where I'm at in the first place. THEN depending on whether it smokes, knocks, whatever, that's when I'll decide. I actually picked this car because its auto. I'm tired of shifting a truck. Maybe a car will be different but the auto is staying. UNLESS it's toast

Made some progress tonight. I was given an ignition switch to replace the one that fell apart in my hand yesterday. We pulled the plugs, oiled the cylinders, then cranked the motor until the oil light went out.

Tried to start her, but after a few fails, we discovered the timing chain is WAY stretched. I ordered a new one, it will be here tomorrow, then I get to spend tomorrow night putting it in

On a brighter note. Here is what I pulled out of the engine when I pulled the thermostat housing

Definately is a 170...but what does the DW stand for?

All tucked in for the night

Doesn't work is correct for right now

The timing chain was really stretched, an so I replaced it.

Still doesn't work

made some progress on the valiant. I got the nasty smelling interior stripped out to see the damage on the floor boards

Here is the passenger side. someone already did the cheap redneck fix on the passenger side already

A decent day. I scored the 68 taillights to put in there temporarily until I find a good set of 67 lights. I got the horrible horrible interior out, and best of ALL, I SCORED a A833 out of an 83 truck NOW the hunt is on for a 4 speed pedal set, and a slant six car bellhousing

nothing MAJOR done. I got the sun visors I bought off the forum, and they look AWESOME, minus 2 dents from a mirror. no worries, as its getting installed dent up haha

In my quest to learn auto upholstery, I attempted to restore the passenger visor that came with the car...

It didn't come out too bad. I am going to do the tan drivers side next. I want to do my own upholstery, and every bit of practice I can get in, will make a HUGE difference

no REAL progress... I havent even brought her home yet. No room in the driveway, because of other peoples crap...thats slowly getting taken care of Had time only for 1 bulky item drop off day last month...next one is on the 17th

Had to get newish tires for her to roll on..OLD:

Can't tell that the new ones are on her..well...USED, but new to her. Had to drive to every shop in town to find a shop that had 13's:

Had to get tires on her that hold air for longer than an hour. Not only because I had to move the car so they could get herc out of his spot, but because of code enforcement HERE, I have to make it look ok for when its over here...

No updates besides tires, and moving her lol

New one installed. No more distributor resting on fender

We think when the motor mount went, it caused the distributor to get knocked out of time. I ran out of time (no pun intended) to try and start her tonight.

She runs

So after fiddling around a bit, turns out I was a tooth off on the timing set. Pulled the cover off, re did the timing, put new points and a newer coil on, and she fired

Of course we had previously pulled the plugs, oiled the cylinders, and hand cranked her over a few times.

She fired up, and was firing on all 6 cylinders. There was a light thump/tap that my buddy says could be a main.

NO smoke though

So now I am going to buy stuff to finish the front of the motor (water pump, thermostat and housing, belts/hoses) reason being, is now it'll be able to be moved around the shop under its own power assuming the trans is any good.

But I have a lead on a 225 that supposedly runs great and come with a working 904 that's going to get gone through and dropped in. But for now, it runs for the first time in 10+ years

Cool. Thanks

Now, would this motor be original to the car? Hood, fender, and some interior were from a 68 or 69. Could they have put the motor in there too?

Since the car is a 1967 model then yes, someone swapped the engine.

Time to post some pics of getting her running.

Here is a comparison of the old points and the newer (new never installed) blue streak points. Not sure if the old points should look like that where the lobe rides haha

So not only were the points not opening enough, and not adjustable enough to get proper gap, they looked like they had been there since 67.

As compared to the new one. Supposedly, this lady drove this car into the junkyard where my friend Dennis bought it from. She supposedly drove it every day with the broken motor mounts, spark plug wires rubbed through onto the shock tower, and who knows what else. The points tell a different story though. No way this car ran with those old points.

I figured as much. Well, since its not original, might as well get that 225 and drop her in. Just gotta get this car going good enough to move around the shop, and if code enforcement comes along, at least it starts.

I still hear a 440 calling my name for this car, but not the intentions I have for this car haha
