I am narrowing an 8 3/4 rear, big bolt pattern , for a dart and i need 67" hub to hub. I figure i can measure from the mounting flange to the bearing flange to figure for the housing width, but how much space needs to be between the axles in the middle? so i can figure axle length?

thanks

i looked at the moser site. i didnt see any where where it told you how to figure this out. looks like they will figure it out for you if you fill in the form and order axles from them.

BBP axle standoff?

51.70" housing flange to flange will give a 57" total width housing.

Axles at 27 5/8"

Stock 8.75" axle end gap is 1.5"

Axle flange stand out is 2.525" per side (measured from housing end after brake backing plates are installed.

Look at your housing in the car before you do anything. I don't remember which side, but there is an off set and if you shorten both the same one will be shorter. I shortened my 8.75 2" and one side is a little closer to the inner fenderwell. I had it mini tubbed moving the inner fender to the frame rail. I didn't do the work and the shortening was done by a professional that has 40 years of Mopar experience. It's not big but maybe 1/2 to 3/4" difference.

67"??? Really

How far do you plan on having the wheels stick out from the fenderwells? 60-70's flares? The factory A, 8.75 rear was 57.125" total width. You want 5 more inches to the outside on each side?

Just asking.

67" would be a 61.70" housing width.

I agree, a 67" assembly is very wide.

BTW, if you order standard application 8 3/4" axles from me, the only specs I need are:

1. Spline count
2. Brake type
3. Bolt pattern
5. Wheel stud type
4. Assembly width or bare housing width

sorry it was supposed to be 57". and it looks like that would be almost a stock a body size.
i still need to cut the housing down because its from an E body.
the wheels are 10" wide but have a lot of offset, they were on a barracuda that was quarter tubbed.
just wanted to make sure i got the housing and axles right.

thanks Dr. Diff and your mail box is full.

If you are running standard 5 x 4 1/2" bolt pattern drum brakes, a 57" wide assembly will yield a 51.7" housing and 27.625" axles.
