Does anyone have a good picture or drawing of what the A/C brackets, pulleys, etc would be and look like on a 1968 Barracuda? Mine does not have power steering. It is a 340 manual car.
I have a 68 parts book, but the pictures in it are not the best.
Love them 68 MOPARS! GTS 340 auto, Charger R/T 440 4-speed, Superbee 383 auto, GTX 440 auto, D100 (new front frame 5.7 hemi - in process), Formula S 340 4-Speed A/C (it's green), 383 auto Roadrunner (maybe a hemi - waiting) and a 68 W200 Power Wagon. Drivers: 07 Cummins and 14 Ecodiesel 4x4.

On my '69 340 it was a single AC belt set up with an idler pulley on the passenger's side of the compressor. The single AC belt went around crank, compressor, and AC belt idler. Water pump pulley was single groove and smaller diameter then non-AC cars. The crank pulley was a large heavy unit and the PS and non-PS AC cars got the same crank pulley. The AC cars ran a 6 blade water pump with different crank and water pump pulley ratios to spin the fan faster compared to non-AC cars. I don't have my AC compressor or pulleys installed but I do have all the parts in storage if you need specific pics let me know.
This is all correct, except the water pump or fan pulley was bigger on the 340 with A/C to make the fan and water pump run faster at a 1.3:1.0 ratio of fan to crankshaft speed. The fan pulley with A/C is 6 1/2" diameter.
For 340 w/o A/C, the fan pulley was 5 3/4" diameter, and it ran at a 0.95:1.0 ratio of fan to crank speed.
The reason I know is this war story: I had bought a defective aftermarket water pump that had fewer balls in the ball bearing than were needed. This caused severe engine vibration at higher rpms. While trying to figure out the problem, I bought a new fan pulley, thinking maybe the old one was out of balance. The Plymouth dealer mistakenly sold me the smaller non-A/C pulley. Never used, it is for sale here now as an NOS part at the Moparts on-line swap meet. Eventually the water pump casting split open from the vibrations, and I could plainly see that there weren't enough balls in the bearing.
In addition to the idler pulley on the passenger side, there is also a smaller roller assembly on the driver's side. This set up is shown in the Chrysler engine assembly drawings available apparently for only 1969 here:

Thanks guys.
This all great information. Now all I have to do is find them to buy for my car. I'm not having much luck finding them.

Thanks for catching that. Yes bigger. I got the faster part correct.
As far as finding these parts, I don't know what other small blocks used the single AC belt set up. I don't know if that was unique to the 340 or not nor do I know what other years/models had that single belt set up. I do know that starting in '70 the pulley offsets were different because of the different water pump used. So '70 and up parts won't work. I onced owned a '69 Charger 318, all original, and it had the two belts for the AC compressor.
