I forgot which side the shiney side of the gasket goes,to head or manifold???

Throw it up in the air and what ever side faces up when it hits the ground put that side to the head, or the manifold.

Never use them with manifolds.

I use a 3M pad on a die grinder. Thin coat of copper RTV, Many use nothing.
