Ok, I tried this in the q & a section with little help, so I'll try here...

I've been having issues with my 383/432 stoker in my RR. Engine is freshly rebuilt and the ignition is a new mopar conversion. The engine is shaking badly and the exhaust reeks of unburnt fuel.
Today I decided to hook up my timing light to different plug wires and see if I could find the source of the erratic firing. While the majority are firing steadily, there were a few that were all over the place. Kinda looked like they would fire 8-10 times when there should have been 1-2, then it would miss a few and so on.
The distributor is new and the reluctor gap set to .008". The plug wires are firecores with about 2000 miles on them and are run throught the factory looms. I have tried the orange box that came with the kit and a new chrome one and the results are the same. Tried a couple different coils with no luck as well.
Could this be the fault of the pick up coil or perhaps The wires are induction, cross firing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Dave

Hello. Try running it at night, and see if there is any arcing near the headers, and down near the spark plugs. Also, the new Mopar distributors are noit phased, so if you kept everything lined up when you took the original out, then put the new one in, it is not even closely phased correctly. Please let me know. I doubt it is the wires.. Thank you.

First... if its that rich, lean it out(get someone
to set the carb right for you).. if it has all new
components on the ignition (I know you can get bad
parts) but like Rich said if it isnt arcing I would
be looking at the carb.... does it smooth out if you
increase the rpm

If it was the carb why would my timing light be lighting up like a Christmas tree? I'm thinking the rotor may be severely out of phase.... Gonna check that today.

If its that rich your killing the plugs causing
a mis fire... does it smooth out if you bring up
the revs

The plugs are new, maybe five minutes on them. The miss gets better when you bring the revs up but it's still there. The old plugs were clean and not fouled.
I checked the phasing on the rotor this morning and it was good. I swapped out the wires on the cylinders that were missing with no difference. I checked the resistance on the coil pick up and it was 325 ohms. I've tried two different coils, two different ECUs, new plugs, wires, new cap and rotor. I've restricted the idle feeds with small wires, as well as changed to larger idle air bleeds but still have a miss. I've richened the idle circuit in case it was a lean miss, set the floats to the bottom of the sight plug. The Idle transfer slot is exposed .020" and there is no dribble out of the boosters or the accelerator nozzle. Idle screws are at 1 1/2 turns out. Power valve is not blown and is an 8.5. There is 13-14" of vacuum at idle. I have also tried a known good carb of of my other car which is actually the carb that I dynoed this motor with....still have an extremely rough idle. I have checked for air leaks with propane and actually had the intake off and resealed it twice to make sure that wasn't the issue. Compression is between 185-195 on all cylinders with my snap on gauge. There is 9.2 volts at the coil +. Five wires fire consistently and three sporadically fire as viewed with the timing light. I am at a loss and don't know what to try next.

Is there a carbon track/crack inside your dist cap that may cause a crossfire?

Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.

Well I have to agree with this since you change everything,
either the shaft is floating around in the
dist busting and is getting a stupid reading from
the pick up or something like that
