The only problem I've ever had with an MSD mis-firing was when the alternator was dying and it wasn't getting the voltage it needed to perform correctly.

I have an MSD 6AL with a race mechanical advance MP distributor and Accel coil in my Challenger street car. It has a 426 Hemi , everything basic checks out fine but has developed a misfire that I can't pinpoint, do the MSDs have any issues like this or do they just die completely ? This setup has run flawless for me for better than 15 years . Don't just want to start replacing expensive parts for no reason. Thanks
I had a high rpm mis and did a A-B-A test with my back up box (7AL) and it was the box(both boxes were 7AL)... sent it into MSD and they said it was fine but when I got it back it magically worked fine

you might want to check the air gap on the pick up coil in the distributor plus you can check the ohmn reading on the pickup coil also...had one go back last year...shooting ducks going down the track.

I've had MSD 6AL boxes w/ high speed misfires, intermittent misfires, and die completely. All were cured by having them rebuilt by either MSD or TechWest Racing in North Carolina. Low voltage is the biggest killer.

That is interesting right there! Mine died in the winter, and the battery was low, but not low enough to not kick over. Bet its just one componant that can't handle the current draw...
..Since then, I put the Crane in, the thing starts almost instantly now...

Yep, if you have a car that sits for a long time and then you crank it up w/o charging the battery up...there's a VERY good chance you'll damage the MSD.
