After figuring out which switch did what I stuck with the original 3 position one but rebuilt it.

Pretty simple slide switch with 3 contacts on the inside of the fiber / plastic backing that the wires attach to... pried up the 3 tabs & disassembled

started w/the burnt up version...


found a heater control unit for $5 yesterday & took apart the switch, the burnt contact wires on the left came from the switch on the right



used the innards from the rusty one & installed into the original clean one - light sanded (500G, maybe even use higher grit if you do this )the slide contact & the wire contacts, cleaned it all up & put it together - wha la, new switch!
