I know there are not many of you guys out there. I'm trying to tune my new combo and would like some advice. Header size, converter stall, gear, carb size, shift point?
My combo is dragster, 1840#s, 604CI, one carb, Marcella manifold, 15.75-1, 520cfm flow on intake. Still working on the tune up and somewhat struggleing. Any help would be appreciated.

We are running 2 pro system dominators. Changing conv to get the stall around 6800. Shift at 7800. This is a #2500 door car w/34.5 tire and 4.75 gear. Still working the bugs out also.

Well I think you know my thoughts. Let it eat. Put that other carb ob, loosen the convertor and spin it up a bit more. But I dont have one, still on the fence.

Oh yeah I am working on getting that video up. If I had any computer skills at all it would probably be easy. But since I dont it is kind of like me building a nuclear bomb, or cutting womens hair

Al, I kinda worried about spinning it up with the oil pressure thing. I am talking to that friend of mine that does converters. He said something about a new type of sprag that locks, and when I get back from Germany, I'll take a look at doing that. I've also heard that a 4.30 gear might help. You know me Al, I won't be happy till it is running like it should.
On the have I contacted Steve Gill question, Steve has been dealing with other things lately, and I'm trying to leave him alone for now.

The very Best TC you can buy hands down is ATI,but Hughes may be the Best in setting up a TC for a Big engine dragster. I have done my Home Work on TC for dragsters and Hughes seems to the best. They not only make & sale them but run them in their own Big engine dragsters.

My small engine had some oil pressure problems & runs the same pump and pan as my Big engine which has no problems,so I have done a lot of research on not just the oil pans but pumps and lifters as well. Let me know what your problems are and if nothing else I will be happy to share what I have learned.

PS I went through the same problems with the tune up in my dragster, for some reason they want a different tune up that what a door-car runs.

I'm in Germany right now, so I'll respond a bit better when I get home sometime this weekend. Mopar570, I know the guys at ATI and Hughs. I also have a friend that owns Torque Coverter Works, that makes the best converters around. Also, I have a problem needing to send stuff away and wait for them to be adjusted, so I'm looking for him to adjust one of my current converters. I'm just a bit low on oil pressure (50@7800RPM) and am concerned about making one looser at the top end and running higher RPMs unless you guys know this combo and the best converter choice. I'm using a Titan hemi pump used in blown alcohol motors that is new, and probably just too concerned with the lower pressure but though I would ask you guys. Thanks for the replys.

it absolutely does not matter what pump you're using 50# is 50# and personally on an engine like that i would share your concern

If his problem is not from lack of oil in the pan,due to not enough or the baffle not keeping what oil is left in the pan trapped over the pick up I would be interested in knowing the problem also.
The main problem with the Big block Mopar engines is in the oiling systems. Almost every engine failure on the big blocks are from rod breakage, due to lack of oil which cause's a bearing to spin and takes out the rod.
PS it may be next year but if nothing happens I am going to either buy or build a Predator engine.
