bought a 727 from a guy who says it ran fine...brought it to a reputable transmission shop and the guy says its full of sludge and metal. I know that there will be some metal in these, but what am I looking at pricewise for a rebuild? It's for a big block. He says it will take more than a "freshening up"...

I bought my last BB 727 from Coan Transmissions in Kokmo Ind for 600 bucks plus a good core or 100 bucks. I have gotten 2 727 from them plus a couple powerglides. Both 727 trannys have been very good and one is close to 10 years old and still barks the tires when it shifts, both do.

So I would not pay anymore than 6-700 bucks, imo.
