It appears to be a 3 barrel, AVS/Thermoquad influenced design. You can even order it with a plastic main body.

... only 625cfm, though?

Might be ok for a 318?

And it has both Ford AND Chevy trans kickdown hookups...which is very helpful?

Hmm

I didn't think there was a market for something like this. Maybe it is just a factory replacement type deal for all the old crusty units out there???

Same here, which is why I am trying to understand

It seems to be the answer to a question nobody asked?

Anyway it should be interesting to see who gets one and how it works out.

I was just shopping for some idle feed restriction jets for my Race Demon...found both the big J and the big S don't have them listed on their website, then I found a post here where Brad H. stated it doesn't look like the quick fuel or other brands of jets will fit correctly in the hole in a BG carb, so then I thought I might have to try BG direct tomorrow. Then stumbled across that carb, and began to ponder how they came up with that product idea.

It was enough of a "Now what the heck is that?" moment, thought I would put it up here...

Oh lovely, that figures

Thanks for the input even if it's bad news, guess I will call them anyway....in the (unlikely) event they log customer call topics, maybe it will help show a little bit of a demand for them.

Might look into the quick fuel ones anyway since they're more readily available....maybe if the od of the restrictor jet was reduced slightly or a counterbore was added to the metering block they could be made to work. I'd rather not be cutting on the metering block, though.

Yep I sort of gathered that....their area code changed from Georgia to Kentucky so that pretty much tells the tale.

I'm on the phone with them right now, am not expecting miracles but it doesn't hurt to let them know...

I gave them the part number for the ifr set, at first they couldn't figure out what it was...then I told them what it was, no longer produced but will most likely go back into production towards the end of this year if things go according to plan.

Nice guy on the phone and he explained what HPI's plan is for Demon: bring street carbs back ASAP, then race carbs later. He stated most of the machining operations and programs need to be reworked and it's taking a long time.

The folks at BG were always super creative. They've come up with tons of unique carb designs over the years. But the execution never really matched the design.

I've heard that the new owners are trying to fix the manufacturing problems. I'd actually like to work with those guys but I'm not interested in moving across the country. It would be kind of cool to work with all those different carb designs and get them dialed in.

Their new Thermoquad knock off is an interesting idea. That really was a pretty good carb design. No idea if anyone will buy the carbs or not, but it is a cool design. It should be a very good carb for a moderate power daily driver.

Looks like there would be a market to me. Looks like the perfect carb for street rods or cruisers and street machines as well as a retrofit carb for older carbureted cars and trucks still on the road.

That was pretty near the same as my thought process, but I hope I'm wrong.

Someone needs to talk to them about making a strip kit for the older avs and thermo quads. They could sell a lot of those.

looks like this new carb is being marketed as a replacement with response and economy as its benefits. I hope they back it up with a 1000 cfm performance model.

Looks like a strategic move by Holley to move into the Edelbrock AFB/AVS space which a lot of "hobbiest/non-racers" seem to prefer over the typical 4150/4160 style carb. Holleys previous attempts at an AFB style "open top/cast in float bowl" carbs have never really caught on.

So is this a 500 CFM "small venturi" carb that they get 625 out of with the Goggle style big 3 barrel? I'll wait for the 1000cfm version off the 800 body, I have an 800AVS on my 427 Cobra that I'm extremely happy with on a 500 hp motor where Tractibility on the roll-on is better and a double pumper is maybe not the best fit for.
