1969 GTX 440, 4 speed, TTI 1 7/8 headers and 440 source mini starter. The starter electrical connections are inbord (engine side)when starter is installed. They almost touch the engine block. This just does not seem right to me; almost impossible to hook up battery cable and route cable. Stock starter the connections were outboard (wheel side). Is this normal? Am I missing something here??

Normal with this starter, I've always installed the wires onto the starter before bolting starter in its the only way with this starter.

Take care,

How do you route the wires; seems they would be touching the block. Better to get another starter??

You can shorten the post a little and grind the block some too to make space. I think I ground a little off the block to make mine work, I installed it 6 years ago. It doesnt need much to not touch.

Thanks Rick. I think I would rather use another starter with the lugs outboard, like factory. Got one of Bill Alphrins wire sets and I don't want to modify them.

I only use RobbMc starters, they are the best out there and will clock wherever you need them too!
