I know that it has been asked before, but now that the brother in law has asked my help to convert his 4 speed car to an automatic, I thought I'd ask again.
We're interested in using a low gear set 998/999 trans for the car. I'd also prefer a lockup converter. I thought that I read that in the mid 80s, ALL 904 transmissions had the lower 1st and 2nd gears. The engine is a mild 360 with a MP 340 cam and a Holley 600. A 727 wouldn't have the lower gears and honestly, the HD trans would be overkill anyway. Thanks, Greg

In sixty-five I was seventeen and running up one-o-one I don't know where I'm running now, I'm just running on Jackson Browne-Running On Empty

Thanks Ron. That was exactly what I needed!
The A-500 would be great, and in the future, we may go that route. I'm not afraid of a little floor surgery, but right now the BIL is struggling to make forward progress on the car and it is is MY garage! I'm sure that you can see my motivation as well!
Thanks again, Greg

IMHO, pretty much any mid-80s Chryco V8 car should have what you need. I prefer Fifth Avenues, because they usually got easy driving owners.
I've got one at home in Colorado, sitting under a tree.
The upper input shaft is for the lockup converter.

R.
