I have used the Search feature and did not find my answer.
I would like to know what fuel pumps you are running on the street and an occasional drag strip session or motocross in the parking lot.
I have a manual pump that I could use, but I don't think it will be enough for my engine set up. (Aluminum head 572 Hemi, roller cam 266@ 50 and 650 lift, 1050 Dominator carb, 4 speed, Dana 4.10 Track pack)
What electric pumps haveyou used fo rextended periods?
Are they quiet enough to listen to the radio or talk on the phone. (I went thru 2 Holley electrics last season and both were extremely noisy)
Do you have to run a pressure regulator or is it built in?
Thanks for the help
Jerry

Carter 'Street Pump' mechanical pump. 6 psi. On the engine since '99.

You'd want the race pump, I don't remember the psi.

I don't know anything about any electrical pumps, other than the cheap one I bought for the Ramcharger is quiet. But I didn't need it, so I now use it for syphoning gas out of the trucks to put in another truck or boat so I ccould go fishing when I was out of money.

I have the Carter pump and the Holley pump. Neither are strong enough to do what I want. And they both limit you to a 5/16 line max in and out. I have checked Mancini's and all of the ususal places online for a really good race manual pump. there just aren't any for Mopars with 1/2 fuel lines. You can get them for a Ford or Chevy round track engine, but nothing for a Mopar big block. I thought of buying one of the big block Chevy pumps ($140) and retro fitting the billet parts to my Hemi pump. But then I would have $250.00 in a manual pump. I was hoping to not have to do that and I am not sure the Chevy pieces would even match up.

i believe there's also another company that makes a high end billet mechanical pump that will fit the bb but can't remember who offhand.

The claysmith pump will not fit without some grinding on the pump. I have a new one I will sell if you are interested.

I have to think that if you can buy the carter pumps for other apps with a 1/2 inch fitting, then it's not a problem with the pump handling that kind of flow. I would get the "race" pump and drill/tap the fittings for 1/2 inch lines. Make sure you run 1/2 inch all the way back to the tank and that you upgrade the sending unit as well. If that doesn't do it, you're going to have to go mechanical, but that's a heck of a lot of fuel there. I'd definately run a pressure regulator. I would also consider a return style setup to help keep the fuel cool and "vent" the system.
