I was wondering what you guys have experienced by adding weight to the trunk of your racecar. I currently have 200lbs in the trunk of the duster and haven't run it with it yet. Without the weight I was going 1.55 in the 60' and running 11.90s @ 110. I know with this other carb i have it will go faster but I want to stay in the 12.0 range.

You will likely be about .20 slower in the 1/4 mile and possibly be slightly slower in the 60' - IF the car was hooking well before. But you should definitely be more consistent, especially under marginal track conditions.

Thanks Myron. Saturday I raced at Seattle and it hooked great every run. Then Sunday at Bremerton it hooked every run until the one I lost. I lost .06 in my 60' which is insane to me. I did have them clean up something before i rolled foward so maybe I put my slicks in it I dont know. But I won't spin again!

200 lbs will help a lot in hooking consistently, but it's not a "guarantee". That's part of the reason why I got frustrated with local bracket racing. Some tracks just don't put the time, work and traction compound down through the whole race to keep it as good as it can be. I do realize that it does get expensive and a lot of work, but I expect to be beaten by a competitor on a "level playing field", not beat by the track!

Sometimes "stuff" happens despite the best effort of the track. The fact that race rubber mixing with street rubber doesn't help slick-equipped cars doesn't help either. The personal choice that I made doesn't help and that is running radial slicks. Bias ply slicks are more consistent than radial slicks, but the radials are faster. I'm fine at IHRA class races. But I don't want to spend the time and money needed for another different set of slicks that also affects reaction times.

I am also thinking about adding a 100 in my trunk, and see if that will help i think my car is a little light in the back now.

I went ghetto for now. I put 4 50lbs bags of play sand in a gear bag in the spare tire well. then just bolt a plate over it and voila...

I went to Bremerton on Friday and aborted every run. And went down the track at PR first thing in the AM hopefully Bremerton will get better. Weight will help just make sure you will still have enough shock travel for the lower ride height.
