Can a class C do it safely and legally? I am very limited on storage space, so I need the smallest one I can find that will do the job. Plus it will be mostly me by myself, so I don't need to sleep 6 or 8 people.

I know some of them need to be reinforced in the hitch area, I just don't want to be hassled by the DOT ever.

I will be towing an open trailer with a 3600lb car and a golf cart.

any dually wheel 1 ton ( 3500 series ) with a 460 or so ci will work. I have had a couple of the motor homes and I like the ford the most.

Stay away from the older motor homes with the chevy p-30 chassis. They handle terrible. I had one I towed a 28 ft trailer with and it was a white knuckle ride to and from the track every weekend. The handling wasn’t much better without the trailer. The only plus was the 455 had plenty of grunt after I had it rebuilt and installed a cam recommended for a dump truck.

I'm sure there are good and bad ones in all cases. I am currently using a MH with an 85 P30 chassis. In windless conditions it drives great. The only time I get to the white knuckle stage is when there ia a good crosswind. 30ft MH and 20ft enclosed.

Tried it for a short amount of time, and honestly a Motor Home is the only thing I've found that requires more maintenance than a race car!!

I loved pulling with my 78 class C. I got a 20 foot trailer that was as light as possible and load it so that I only have about 900 lbs on the hitch.

What engine? Is a 360 going to cut it, or do I need to find a 440? No Ford or Chevy chassis for me.

The worst part of using a gas-powered MH for towing is the 5 MPG that I get when pulling my trailer. A trip to Bandimere and back (160 mi. round trip) costs $125. BTW,without the 24' trailer on back, it gets 6 MPG.

Over the years I have used my motorhome to tow but I only use it when we plan on staying over night or for 7 day races like the Halloween Classic. The first one was a 23 foot with a 400 smallblock chevy in it. I now have a 27 foot 460 Ford. Both towed my open trailer good but when I bought my 24 foot enclosed trailer its really works them with the hills in Pa. If I hit a hill at 60-65mph all is well. I love having it at the track but it can't compete with my Dodge diesel. I also beefed up the frame and hitch.

Livin and lovin life one day at a time

I tow with a 1995 Winnebago 28' Brave P30 chassis w/454 and it is very manageable if you stay under 60mph, windy conditions can be scary, its all 55mph roads to my track its an hour away....I have an open trailer with a 3000lb A body

for what its worth, I am looking for another motorhome and would consider nothing less than a class A unit, 34' or bigger. I have owned the above motorhome for 8 years, thought I wanted a smaller one to "get used to it", should have gone big right off the bat, my wife drives this unit with the car attached and has logged many many miles on it.

34' Chevy powered motorhome here. I wouldn't go to the races without it. It gets horrible gas mileage but just think about it , you have your home with you. I have never had the poor driving experience and I run the heck out of mine. 65 to 70 mph all day long. Mostly flat land around here

I would suggest nothing but BB to tow a trailer.

Logged many miles in a 360 dodge 24' motorhome.

I always thought Va was hilly?

I baught a Dodge Scotty with a 5 speed cummins this past fall never pulled anything with it yet but it replace a 98 3500 dodge dually. I have a open trailer for now but plan on getting a enclosed trailer soon, it should tow good with the Tag axle, I get 16 MPG driving on the highway

2000 30 ft ford with v-10. 65 mph no problem with 20 ft enclosed. you will have to slow down to 45 or so in Bad winds. I have kids and the RV is like haveing a baby sitter.
no problem passing semis and other RV's on hills.
