Quite a few people have expressed interest on how I did the 5 speed conversion in our garage chally (RIP). Well I finally got enough time to get some info for you lovely people.

Items needed:
-T-5 tranny (mustang, transmaro, etc...)
-Driveshaft from that tranny
-Lakewood scatter shield (or regualr bellhousing and a call to drdiff)
-Transmission mount from your car and the T-5 car
-MIG or TIG welder access
-Your correct flywheel for your motor (mopar)
-Your correct pressure plate (mopar)
-A clutch for a T-5 tranny
-A pilot bushing with an inside diameter correct for tanny and oudside diameter correct for your motor
-Mopar Z-bar
-1 inch plate steel

I would expect your car to be down a week or so depending on how much you work

With the T-5 out of a Mustang your shifter ends up kiddy corner of the stock (4-speed) location. So it looks better on Automatic cars.

As you can see the shifter location is in a hump car.

What is the stick out length of the Ford input shaft compared to the Mopar 4-speed unit?

how much work was the tranny mount to fabricate ? also , how would you see the install differing in a b-body ?

ratstar, how different is the shifter location compared to factory humps? If a car did not have the factory hump, would it be easier to fab up an opening for the shifter, or use a factory Mopar 4 spd hump?

would it be more preferable to use the 10.5 or 11 inch bell housing , clutch and pressure plate ?

all the t-5 clutches are 10.5 so i thought staying with the same size might be beneficial.

Alex to answer your questions the tranny ount just took a little bit of time. If you took more I am sure you could make it look alot better than mine. The clutch was a 10.5 but we used everything else 11. It works.

Shifter location in a b-body would be i believe tha same as it looks in the e-body. All I know is that the put the shifting location directly in line with the tranny center instead of off to the left side like the 833. It would be easier and better looking not to have a 4-speed hump.

is the transmission yoke different for the ford and gm versions of the tranny ? is there a 1350 yoke made for the respective versions ?

I am sure they make a 1350 version of it, and I have no idea on if they are different for a ferd or gm. Good thing to look into though.

FWIW, the Ford T-5 I have to go into my Charger uses a normal ford yoke, same as C-4... with so many later model 'stangs though out there being raced, imagine there would be a decent assortment of aftermarket yokes out there for them.

So everything bolts up corecctly inside the bellhousing? Does the trany bolt dirrectly to the belhousing or is there fab work to be done, What clutch fork did you use? What is the 1" thick steel plate for?

Maybee some more detailed instructions for us out there that might want to try this.

Great info though!!

Stock clutch fork yes but modified slightly. Very slightly. It has to be slit and welded. Just to create more of a bend.

Cost for us was about $200. But thats only cause we do all the fab work and the tranny was only 60 from a friend. Havent priced them in the j-yards.

You have to fab an adapter from the tranny to the housing, thats what the 1 inch steel is for.

It was done on a smallblock in a chally.

I have heard that the 6 speed is close but I havent gotten my hands on one, yet.
