245/45-18 on the hot rod. I would prefer a bit more sidewall too but the tires already rub on the frame at full lock and I don't have any more room to the outside. The Imp wears 255/70-15 which is a 29" tire. It swallows those tires without any fear of rubbing anywhere.

This is a good question , i was also wondering about the max tire size i can run on the rear of an e-body. I'm running 265 60 (26")on the rear and with the air shocks it looks like i could run a 28 or 29" . With 4:10 gears the taller the better until i change gears or buy a tremec OD
On my '73 cuda,I'm running ET street radials 295/55-15(28" tall) on a 8" rim. 295/65-15(30" tall) looks like it would work also.

245/45-17 on 17x8s front. 275/40-18 on 18x9.5s rear.
Would have preferred 50s on front and 45s on rear, but that didn't come in those sizes.
wow those look like space savers...especally on the back. Get some meat on those things bro. I have 205/75/15 front and 265/65/16's (I think) in the back.

He ran into what I found when starting to look for tires on a muscle car with 18s. There aren't a lot of "middle of the road" options, either a short tire or a tall SUV tire. The 275/40/18s he is running are 27" tall, I ended up with the 295/45/18 that comes out to 28.5" tall, just clears it up

I run 245/60/15's on my dads 68 charger on 15x7's with no clearance issues at all. I can snap a few pics if you would like. They fill up the wheelwell nicely.
