Working on a 68 Superbee and cannot find the VIN sequence numbers on the tranny. There isnt even a raised pad under the passenger side ear like my 70 transmission has for the numbers. I went and looked at my cores and another 68 transmission I have doesnt have a pad either. Can anybody shed some light on this. I doubt that I have two warranty transmissions. To be honest I dont remember on 68-69 cars. I double checked the numbers on the pan lip and they are both 68 transmissions out of 383 cars. Thanks!

On an automatic it's right on top of the bell housing behind where the tranny mates up to the block adjacent to the oil sending unit. If it's a 4 speed it should be on the raised pad on the passenger side, if no raised pad it's likey a 66-67 trans and has been replaced. The example pictured shows the right location but has incorrect (none numbers matching) stampings.
