i know they have been posted numerous times, i cannot find any. I have a stock 360 short block from the 70s and looking for a recipe or two using stock short block, any help would be appreciated. Want to use the stock short block and the motor is going into a 74 charger

Bolt on a set of Mag heads, Performer RPM intake, 750 holley vac secondary carb, 1 5/8 long tube headers, and a small Hyd. cam, 270-ish duration, mid .400 to .500 lift cam and go have some fun. May have to trim the tops off of the valve guides for cam lifts over .450. Mag motors use 1.6 ratio rockers so be sure to take this in consideration.

I would get the correct KB pistons & get .040" quench which will let you run a higher SCR on the exact same octane WO pinging and squeeze is one of the #1 parameters of how much power an eng will produce. first decide what octane you will be running and a conservative compression ratio will let you run an aggressive ign curve staying under the pinging point also very important for power

What are you looking to do with it? Haul a dump truck around? Mabey a 1800# dragster? I will assume you are building a budget oriented mild 360 for an A-body...

If that is close here is what I would do and have done.

360 short block re-built to stock mid 70s specs but .030 over. Mild ported magnum heads, comp XE268 cam, thin mopar performance head gaskets, M1 single plane, GM 3100 V6 valve springs and retainers, and in my car with 2.76 gears it did not lack TQ but I would have made a couple changes if I was buying parts instead of what I had laying around... I would have bought an eddy air gap intake and a comp 270 magnum cam. The car as it was had good throttle response and if you were rolling along at 20 mph or so and stompped it the trans would kick down and the rear end wanted to come around the front end real bad. The 2.76 gears knocked off just enough TQ to make it where it would launch on the street just fine. I even used the factory high stall LU converter in my 904. If I had better hooking tires I think a 3.23 gear would have been awesome.

Yes, one more thing I would have changed if I was buying parts instead of useing stuff I had laying around I would have used the KB 107 pistons but that does add $$$ both for the pistons themselfs and the required balancing. If I was going that far I would then consider some SCAT I beam rods because they are very light and strong, removeing that much weight from and engine really makes them rev easy
