I have a 670cfm Truck Avenger on my '70 W100 and it is a nice carb. A bit lean out of the box, but still a good working carb.

On my mild 440 I used a 750cfm Quick Fuel Slayer which is a vacuum secondary carb with all of the tricks (replaceable air bleeds, externally adjustable vac. dashpot, glass bowl sights, etc.) and it has worked great all winter long.

The QF Slayer is $300 compared to the $360-400 for the Holley that has less features.

I had a 770 on the tired 440 in my Plymouth. It was pretty lean out of the box. It was a stock 350 horse engine with headers. I was up three jet sizes at all four corners and it was pretty close on the jetting. I can't give a really honest opinion because between the engine being tired and the tranny not holding at WOT, the car never impressed me. It most likely wasn't the carb's fault but expect to fiddle with it!

A friend ov mine got sold a 670 version for his stock 440 (76 engine in a 73 Satellite). It was bone stock except for a open element filter and a recurve. It ran great out ov the box, needed very little tuning/tweaking (i think i played with the jetting and the secondary springs), but it was definitely too small for even a stock 440. Great throttle response and got considerably better mpg than my own stock-ish 440 with a 750 vac secondary. I still have it... keeping it around in case i even have a small block in need ov a good carb.
