1.Could someone post the factory drive shaft length for a 70 challenger with a 440 4-speed combo? Also is this measurement taken end to end?Or from center to center on the u-joints?

2.Is it possible to feel a drive shaft vibration in your steering wheel?I have a slight vibration I checked everything in the front end its all tight had all four wheels balanced cant figure out where its coming from.I changed a u-joint last weekend and could push the caps in with my fingers so I know the shaft needs replaced. As always thanks guys

From 70' manual - 440 / 4-speed / should have a Dana 60 as well.

44.60 inches measurement is from center line of bearing bore to centerline of brg bore.

Shaft diameter is 3.25 inches

sorry should have been more specific.Car started life as a 383 with a 727 was converted to 440 4-speed so car has a 8 3/4 pretty sure the driveshaft is from the 383 727 combo.I have a shaft that I had built when I was running my jerico was just looking how much I may need to shorten it.

383/727 should be either 45.85 inches [2BBL] or 45.60 inches [4 BBL]

If the d/shaft you have is either of those you should be good to go as is.

With the rear axle on jackstands so the suspension is loaded I'd mockup your intended driveshaft selection & see how much end play you do have and if shortening one I'd butt it all the way forward/measure the C to C/subtract 3/4-7/8" if using the common flat aftermarket extension housing seal at the end of the trans
