I know I have seen it in here about 10 times in the last two weeks but I can't seem to find where who does Holley carb tuning.

I recently picked up a 750 dual feed single pump and need it tuned for my 383. Who does good work for a fair price??

Thanks, Mike

give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach him to fish and....
anyway, why not do it yourself? What;s the 383 build? if it's mild I'd take it apart start w/ a 6.5PV, 72-76 jets, 28 squirters, and plain springs. Then I'd turn the mixture screws in all the way and back out 1.25 turns. Prime it and trun the idle screw up so you'll have about 2500 rpm at start up. Let it warm up back the idle down to about 22-2400 and set your timing in full at about 36*, back the rpm's down to 800 and set the misture screws for best idle/vaccuum. Reset idle if needed. Go for a romp and see what needs tweaking. Nothing anybody does is going to be 100% on.

Well, the biggest reason is I know nothing about Holley carbs. I've always ran Carters which a 5 year old could tune

I am more than willing to do it myself and you my friend just gave me the ammo to do so!! The engine is a mild build with a hefty solid lifter cam and a Mallory UniLite dist. I don't know much about the internals of the motor since I did not build it.

Thanks and I'll give it a try and update once I've complete your steps

a five year old can tune a holley too. all the parts you need are easily found and readily available. just because holley doesn`t advertise "a true bolt on" or "out of the box performance" or whatever does not mean it takes a rocket scientist to tune it.

I'm sure it is but like I said I have never used a Holley let alone take one apart or begin to tune one. On the surface they seem much more complicated but I am more than willing to learn!!

The Power Valve is what makes it work. W/ your solid lifter cam I'd run it for a while before you adjust that. Also you might need more than the 72-76, so start a tad higher... 76-80 maybe. I think the "standard" rule for PV selection is vaccum at idle divided in half?? so 10-12 at idle would give you a 5.5-6.5PV

Oooh I see said the blind man!

Thank you again for the info. Looks like I'll be calling my local parts man for some parts!

If it's new put it on and run it. if it's used put it back to stock the PV may need tayloring but otherwise unless you are at 6500 feet leave jetting stock!

It's used but seems to work well. I am located in Iowa so not anything near high altitude.

What is stock jetting? I'm sure there are other than stock jets in it now. I will check the jetting tonight before I go buying anything

Carb is an 80508-1 with the numbers 1890 below it. I didn't build the motor so I don't know exactly what cam is in it. Not sure what you mean by TQ?
