I have heard this ticking noise a couple of times and I just found where it is coming from. My FAST analog gauge has a "ticking" noise coming from it and I can see the needle jumping slightly with the ticking noise. Keep in mind that this is with the car OFF. It was loud enough that I heard it ticking from outside of the car when I was walking by it in the garage. It does not do it all of the time and I have only heard it on occasions. I pulled the positive battery cable and of course it stopped, but any ideas on what is causing this? I am assuming that this is a battery drain. Note: the gauge works fine when driving. Thanks

Let me try and explain this some more. I have heard this ticking noise a couple of times now and both times I thought that it sounds like a relay up and under the dash that is switching on/off, but the ticking noise is coming from the FAST analog guage. The needle is bouncing about 1/16" in rythem with the ticking noise. An EE at work had suggested that the gauge might have a bad ground and this could be. The gauge is the plastic round body with the sheet metal bracket that I have bolted to the dash frame. I am thinking of running an external ground wire from one of the mounting nuts (shown in the picture) to see if that helps. Any ideas? I drove the car and the gauge was working fine. Thanks
