Dang, Pat! You're making it pretty darn difficult to keep my eyes dry today! That particular moment busted me up pretty good at the service. And like Rich said, when they fired up his Challenger I was a complete mess. I've never been to such an impressive funeral service in my life. And like that soundbyte said, Gary will NEVER be forgotten.

Zippy, you aren't alone. There were several tough moments (ok, the whole thing was hard to get through), but I totally lost it when they said that over the PA.

And, I lost again listening to it just now.

Thank you for capturing that, and sharing it with everyone, Pat.

Jerry,
"10-7" is radio code for "out of service", I suspect it was broadcast over the police radio by one of his brother Officers.

There is a post with a stick pin here where people can Paypal donations; with a reply about the amount raised. There is also a National Police Officer Memorial Fund that has a substantial benefit. I'm sure the State of Michigan has one as well.

Pat, if you have it can you post Gary's car when it started I would like to have that if possible.

That sound byte of the police announcement was actually taken from a film clip that was almost 2 minutes long. After that announcement it's hard to hear anything over the wind noise, you can BARELY hear a slight revving of an engine, but it's very brief and with the wind noise it's hard to tell when it actually stopped. Plus, it picked up a lady in front of me breaking down near the end of it, which was also heart-wrenching.

I'm glad I could provide all of you with that sound clip, btw. I think the fact that I picked it up unintentionally was some sort of sign that I should share it with all of you.

That's where I lost it also. The bagpipes, the 21 gun salute, the helicopters, taps being played....all got to me pretty bad. Then when the Garys car was started and revved up and the 10-7 message came over the loud speaker,I broke down completely. Rest in peace Gary,we will always remember you.

Mike do not worry about the questions it just takes a bit to write it throught the tears. I think I need a new keyboard.

7-10 and the who was already answered.

I though GregZ said something about 2000 just on paypal as of Friday night.

Russ drove the car. It was very hard on him. He is still in pretty bad shape.

I do not know about Nikki. Maybe Bubba, Steff or the Irons family would be able to answer that.

John will be working on the video next week.
