Just picked up a 66 Charger Black 4 speed 383 . it has been sitting for nearly 14 years. They had drained out all the fluids. I put marvel mystery oil in the spark plug holes, and the motor rotates freely. I plan on a compression check today Do you think the water pump is any good at this point?. or should i change it for cheap insurance.

.Any other suggestions.

Fuel system will need help. Clean tank, replace soft lines and filter, probably do the carb.

I'd run water through the cooling system first, unless you plan on doing it all ASAP. The WP seal is going to be dry. Swap it out unless you question the rest of the motor. Just fill and run if you think the motor may need a rebuild.

Flush the brake fluid with new. Fix any leaking components.

Drained all the fluids? Also make sure the trans is filled (you didn't say A/T or M/T). I'd have the car up on stands so it doesn't take off. You could remove the driveshaft instead. I've heard horror stories where an awakened car's trans internals were dry after sitting and after a short time running launched it.

Fresh battery and clean all big connections. Would be a good idea to check the bulkhead connector and fuse connections first before putting amps through them. You can replace points and condenser as a matter of course, or just check/adjust them and inspect the wires. I'd toss in new plugs as a matter of course.

If this isn't a survivor show car, squirt a bunch of stuff with PB blaster that you will be wrenching on later.

Some will suggest removing the valve covers and priming the oil, watching for oiling at the valvetrain. Probably a good idea, but I tend toward cranking with the plugs out after the cylinders have soaked a couple days. If I have oil pressure then and no fuel leaks, I will just stick the plugs in, check for spark and cross my fingers. This is on a stock motor, not some HP big buck thing.

Yes Thanks they did also drain the tank and disconnected the fuel lines to the fuel pump and from the pump to the carb. Radiator and carb were both removed but the seller had new parts that went with the car. Edlebrock 650 new and a mopar radiator a 3443951 weird number can't match to my reference books plus all the radiator hoses thermostat, cap, points, oil filter ect....He is looking for the original carb and radiator for me thinks he kept them too.
