Any engineers or techs here that can give me a quick lesson on how the new style integrated control mudules operate? -- Only four wires from the power windows/locks/mirrors switch?

I believe the controller/module uses pulsed/special signals to send different signals through single wires somehow to operate different components. Multiplex is a word that it's called sometimes.

The TIPM sends and receives information over the CAN bus to other modules though out the rest of the vehicle. Just like the door module for instance has an input from the door lock switch and the door module sends out that input over the bus. The other modules see that and use it to carry out the request as needed such as the right door module will then know to lock or unlock the door.

Thanks for the info. I am working on a 09 ram 1500 that has a "no bus" message on the dash. I guess i will need to diagnose this with a whole different technique than i am used to.

You could have a bus wiring problem or a module shorting out the bus. Get a wiring diagram and find all the modules on the bus. There is a flow chart in the FCM for that concern. It has you unplug modules in a certain order and see if the bus comes back on. Alot easier with the scan tool.
