I have a 1973 SE that had AC components in the engine compartment that were removed long ago. (The inside stuff is still there.) I am redoing the AC system in front of the firewall only to be compatible with the factory "inside" components.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a supplier to use for an engine-compartment-only kit for a new 134a system including: pulleys, compressor brackets, compressor, hoses, receiver/dryer, and condenser and hard lines that bolt onto the stock thru-firewall evaporator location?

I know Classic Auto Air and Vintage Air have whole car kits, but I only want the "front" half!

If you are not looking for factory look, call Classic and speak to Ron. Tell him what model, year and motor you have. I just replaced the old factory V compressor on my '74 Charger with their Kit. Compressor, dryer, bracket, hoses and fittings and expansion valve. I think they have pulleys and condensors too. I paid $563 and have 2012 a/c versus about the same price for a rebuilt factory compressor and clutch and 1974 a/c.

Piece it together yourself and save, plus get a better system.
You have to have hoses made any way, so go ahead and DIY.

Classic will sell you the underhood part only. Another good supplier for underhood AC stuff is Bouchillon performance. On my '70 Classic Auto Air rebuilt the OE in car part and I used a combination of Classic and Bouchillon under the hood. I liked the lines from Classic better (more fitted metal, less rubber) and the compressor mount from Bouchillon. It all worked fine but if I do it again, I'll stick with one vendor for simplicity. Both are good in my book.
