ok all you valve train experts here's the question
i have a 440 base 493, victor heads, .600" solid roller and hughes rockers. my scrub centerline is .020 low towards the exhaust ports
if i install a .080 lash cap would it raise the scrub mark or lower it

depend's on where you are in the radius of the rocker travel, but more than likely would raise it, I would be more concerned where the roller is in mid and full lift

Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.

They don't pound on, they're a slip fit. Also make SURE they don't seat on the keepers. Dave

You just found out the main reason to use lash caps, to keep from pounding the valve stems out. Use a file or stone to reduce the beat up top part of the valve stem so the lash caps will slide on and off the valve stems easily

The lash cap will raise it... plus you cant come close to the edge of the cap
