Trying to rebuild a friends front end on a 69 road runner and the lower control arm nut is being difficult. The shaft is turning inside the lower bushing keeping the nut from unloosening. Any tricks to this before I just cut it out and replace the whole shaft?? Thanks for any advise!

either the bushing is torn, or perhaps it has poly lower bushings, which will cause the piviot shaft to try and rotate, either way, remove the torsion bar, and from the back, and thru torsion bar socket of the LCA you can hammer the pin forward, tightening it up in it's bore on the K frame to try and release the nut, a little heat on the nut might help also, if the LCA bushing/pin is that bad, you might be able to pry the arm off it after pulling the torsion bar, then address the issue with the turning shaft

I had the same problem... I removed the T bar and drove the shaft forward while prying back against the K member which gave me just enough space to grab the shoulder of the shaft with some vise grips. It left some teeth marks on the shoulder but I cleaned them up with a Dremel tool. A few shots of PB Blaster before you start helps also.

I had the same problem. I used the old hammer and chisel method and replaced the shaft with firmfeels grease fitted shafts...good luck

Yup, get the torsion bar out and the LCA should come off the pin. Then some vise grips and it'll be out easily.
